Two Solar Eclipse Programs Planned At Library! 

Get ready for the solar eclipse that will occur on April 8! Cherry Springs State Park and the Coudersport Public Library are partnering to offer a day to learn about Solar Eclipses!

On Thursday, March 14, bring preschoolers (ages three to kindergarten) to Storytime: Eclipses, for a fun story time and craft! From 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m., we will read Total Solar Eclipse by Jayme Sandberg, illustrated by Kathleen Gadekin. Afterwards, kids will create an eclipse-themed craft to take home, while learning about the solar eclipse that will happen in April, and how to view it safely. 

Then, on Thursday evening, March 14, ages elementary through teen, and adults, are invited to visit the Library for a more in-depth look at eclipses, during the Exploring Eclipses program from 6:30 to 7:30 pm. Whether you’re planning on checking out the eclipse in-person, or are just interested in learning more about them, this program will help you make the most of your eclipse-viewing day. We’ll learn about what an eclipse is, some history of eclipses, how to safely view an eclipse, and what to expect on April 8. Eclipse glasses and pinhole viewers will be available to participants, while supplies last. (Any extra glasses will be available for following the program.) This program is best for teens and adults, though families with younger children are welcome to attend.

Both programs are FREE, no pre-registration required. In the event of inclement weather, the story time will be rescheduled to Thursday, March 21, and the teen/adult program to Tuesday, March 19.
